Previously
A deadly virus affecting both organics and robotics swept the northern sectors of the Galaxy, sparking a war between the afflicted and the remaining factions. After nearly a year of defensive battles and co-ordinated operations, the war finally ended at the Battle of Ruin. The end of the war saw increased relations between the GSU, Imperium and Santori as they all agreed on a two year ceasefire to mend the damages caused by the crisis.

After these two years the factions signed the Santori Accords, an agreement proclaiming their united efforts to uphold Celestial law, including the protection of innocent life in case of another galactic threat. Following this meeting the Highrock Clans decided to join the Santori Protectorate, expanding their territory by almost double.

Galactic Date
Whilst each planet has their own personal Dates and Times, most of them adhere to the Galactic Standard Calendar when communicating with eachother.

Current Events
The Reich, a returning faction of magic-haters, resurface and initiate a purge of the planet Ordriey, destroying it entirely in the process. This event has made all of the Major Factions uneasy, even though each of them has bigger concerns of their own. Not only are there issues for these powers to deal with, but more factions are rising from the ashes of the Helix War, populating the galaxy once again.

Meanwhile, the Celestial Architect Sam'anar has discovered a way to reverse large parts of the Convergence, sending back many of the planets it had brought into the galaxy. Whilst this move has saved many from unwanted threats, it has also shifted the layout of the galaxy drastically. Because of this, new star-charts have been drawn out with Hyperlanes, allowing them to show the quickest and safest routes between planets.

FEBRUARY, 2571

A few seconds after they stepped through the portal, Sebastian alongside Natasha, Valeryie, Tagon and Dakora found themselves standing upon the surface of Phoenixspire. Although... it was completely different from what anyone would remember it.

Buildings had sustained heavy structural damage, some having collapsed entirely even. The streets mere a mess of corpses of both the planet's residents and the demonic creatures that had invaded it.

Fires burned away at whatever or whoever had been unfortunate to catch themselves alight during the chaos and the few that had survived were scurrying here and there, trying mostly in vain to find people that may have survived and lifting rubble off corpses in order to carry them away.

"My God..." Sebastian said, in complete shock.
"It's so much worse than... than Chiron. And Nightblood." Natasha said, her tone matching his. Sebastian gazed past all the buildings and looked at the main city's castle. Where Jaya resided. From this distance he could still see that the castle itself had received some damage in the fight, though it was thankfully standing still.

"Come on," Sebastian ushered everyone as he began to walk through the corpse-strewn streets towards the castle. "We need to find Jaya."

The invasion had ended, but not without heavy cost. Earth was in a complete state of chaos even after the combined efforts of both the GSU Army and Supernatural Knights, as well as the civilian population managed to pinpoint the origin of and destroy the portals.

Some had managed to personally reach the "bunkers" and destroy them, while other more densely invaded areas had to resort to more drastic measures. The few reports that were received told of weapons of mass destruction being used to wipe out demonic invasions that had become too big to contain, consequentially also taking the lives of thousands of civilians in the process.

Worldwide, it was now chaos. People's residencies had been completely destroyed and the military, with no real way to communicate had to resort to rudimentary radio technology to communicate. Despite this, they were all still scattered and struggling to coordinate their efforts to rescue the injured and stabilise the situation. With most of the GSU's technology shutting down, contact with the other colonies went dark.

The GSU was for all intents and purposes, on the brink of complete and utter collapse.

---------------------------------------------------------

The doors to the Knight's Acacdemy's communications room slammed open as Gavin, followed closely by Solaris and Gelinda entered into the room. Gelinda wasted no time in attending to the central table's holographic controls and trying to establish a connection with the other Knights across GSU space.

"Thank God this still works." Gelinda sighed as she frantically typed at the keyboard. Solaris watched her as Gavin began to pace around the room, clearly in thought.
"So that's all of our tech just... suddenly not working anymore?" Solaris asked.
"Not all of it," Geinda replied. "Mostly starships and military vehicles, as well as radio communications arrays. Fortunately, Knights use different technology than the GSU. I'm just thankful that we're able to get something working."

Solaris looked up at Gavin.
"Any idea what could have caused this?" Gavin looked at him, his frown not disappearing.
"Any luck?" He asked Gelinda, completely ignoring Solaris's question.
Gelinda looked up at him and then back down at the table. "I'm getting reports of casualties across all of GSU territory. Some colonies suffered worse than others. Actually... just Earth and Phoenixspire. The rest had it relatively easy compared to us."

Gavin paused in his pacing.
"Did you just say, Phoenixspire?"

Tagon immediately felt ill upon leaving the portal, he had yet to get used to teleportation and portals and the like. But when he actually took a look at his surroundings he felt even sicker.

Obviously Tagon assumed Phoenixspire didn't always look like this, but with all the destruction..he couldn't have even imagined what it could have possibly looked like before. Dakora was equally as solemn and both Tagon and the demon nodded as they agreed to go in search of Jaya.

"I can't believe how bad this must have been.." Natasha pondered out loud. "There's so much death, so much destruction." Her voice trailed off before she cleared her throat. "We should have been here."

Sebastian glanced at her for a second. "There's no way we could have known." He replied. "Not until it was too late."

Valeryie observed the corpses that lay around the streets. While she didn't have the words to express it, a great pit of anger began to develop in her chest. These were families, communities that lost their lives today. Whoever that was responsible for these attacks deserved to die.

They neared the castle's gates and saw that they had also been destroyed. Sebastian quickened his pace, as did everyone else through the entrance and into the building itself, hoping to locate Jaya inside.

Gavin left Solaris and Gelinda inside the Knights Academy to take a quick walk outside. He wanted again to observe the damage that had been dealt by the invasion. To gain a understanding of how heavy the scales were.

He gazed at everything, ranging from the corpses to the complete utter destruction that littered the streets. Looking around, Gavin knew that this planet would not survive another attack. If they were once again invaded, Earth would fall. And no one would survive.

He watched as rescue teams and emergency services struggled and tried their best to save those who were injured. A child who was separated from his parents ran to hug them, all three of them crying both out of relief and horror of what had just happened.

For a moment Gavin put himself in the child's shoes. Being separated and terrified just by their mere absence. He knew what it was like to lose both. Except he didn't know the joy, nor the relief of being reunited with them like this boy did.

Gavin wondered what it would be like, to still have them around. He missed them, admittedly. Missed the distinct smell of the perfume his mum always wore, with her loving embrace. He missed his dad's upbeat and jolly nature, and those barbecues they always used to hold for the entire neighbourhood.

That was all gone now.

"Hey Gavin!" Solaris called from inside. "We've got Phoenixspire!" Gavin shook the thoughts away from his head and blinked a couple of times. He wiped his eyes with his fingers and thumb before turning away from the scene and walking back into the academy.

Tagon looked around at the carnage of it all and both anger and sorrow settled in him, he had seen many wars and the devastation it left behind. He had hoped that he would never have to see such carnage again, but appeared that was not in the cards for him. He couldn't stomach looking at the younger corpses and the destroyed houses around him, instead choosing to focus on the task at hand.

When he saw the destroyed gates he quickened his pace along with everyone else, his hands curled tight into fists. He hoped his granddaughter was still alive, he wanted to meet her and he especially didn't want to be the one to tell his daughter that her daughter had been killed.

As the group proceeded up the castle path they were met quickly by four Omega Legionnaires, their armour decorated with the crest of the phoenix, labelling them as Jaya's guard. At first they raised their guns at the group, but quickly enough they recognised they were friendly, and lowered their weapons with a nod.
"The Queen is this way." The front Legionnaire spoke, gesturing for the group to follow them into the half-ruined castle.

They all made their way winding through cracked and deformed corridors, the walls covered in the blood and remains of both mortals and demons. Whatever battle had occurred seemed to have come to a very hectic conclusion with the castle's corridors. Large burn marks could be seen around the edges of stone and the outlines of corpses, for those who inspected closely enough.

Eventually they found the throne room, which instead of being laid out for ceremony was now made into some makeshift war room. A long weathered table sat out in the middle with officials gathered around it, while the entirety of the rest of the room was covered in medical beds, over which healers were tending to the few remaining soldiers and civilians.

"Duarte." Jaya addressed the approaching soldier formally, becoming visible herself as the officials around the table stood aside to show her at it's head. "Is it true? Has everywhere been hit by..." Her eyes darted around to the injured for a moment. "This?"

Sebastian attached his rifle to his back when he saw Jaya.
"Affirmative ma'am. I'm sorry, it looks like you had the worst of it." He sympathised. Natasha stepped forward. "The same can be said for Earth. Our radios are mostly out of commission, but we found that Knight technology is still operational."

The three soldiers walked towards the table. "We need to gain some semblance of communication with the other colonies." Natasha went on. "Perhaps contacting every other Knight outpost across GSU space will provide everyone with some help in maintaining a comprehensive line of communication between each planet. Make everything easier for everyone."

Sebastian looked at Natasha and back at Jaya, before nodding. "If you are busy, then we could do it ourselves. That's if you allow us to."

Tagon's body tensed up upon being greeted by the Omega Legionnaires with weapons raised, already prepared to fight them if need be when they lowered their weapons upon deeming and or recognizing them as friendly. As they were lead to the Queen anticipation roiled through Tagon, she had no idea what she would look like. Did she look more like her mother? More like her father? Did she have her mother's death stare? He didn't know much about her father despite him living at the castle for a little while, the man seemed apprehensive towards him, so he probably couldn't identify any personality traits of his in Jaya.

His thoughts were half on the Queen and half on the deformed corridors they went down. Blood splattered, rubble, burn marks, it looked like hell had gone down throughout these walls. Eventually they were lead to what he could assume used to be the throne room, but had now been fashioned into a makeshift war room and medical wing which was something he recognized from previous wars and battles he had been apart of.

Once they approached and the officials moved or raised their heads Tagon just sort of stopped when he saw her, enough so that Dakora nearly bumped into him and gave him a scowl before moving around him. He still thought she shouldn't have come, she was a demon and many planets had just been thoroughly attacked by demons. But he just sort of stared at Jaya with this almost awestruck/dumbstruck expression. That was his grand daughter. He never thought he would see the day where someone held that title.

She looked more like her father than she did her mother, what with the dark black hair. She had heard she went by Veilsong now, and that she had never gone by Youngblood. He had also heard there was a fair amount of strain between Jaya, Dan and Kitty that Kitty had only vaguely explained. It took him another moment or two to shake the expression from his face and tune back into the conversation just as Dakora spoke up. "Establishing a connection with Nightblood should be a high priority to double check if the tech is working. We might have been hit but the battle didn't last nearly as long or cause as much damage as here or Earth. If the tech works then we can start reaching out to other planets, your Grandfather can send the message to your Aunt."

"Yes, I'll make sure you have full access to our communications, including the emergency Knight channels. That should get you in touch with every major GSU planet and even some outlying systems where they operate." Jaya nodded to the soldiers, grateful for their offering of help. Her own teams were already busy trying to repair systems damaged in the attack, and keep communications up between the cities and orbiting stations of the planet.

"That too. Nightblood should be a priority not only because they can help us widen the search, but also because I want all members of the Almis and Youngblood family accounted for..." She spoke with some skepticism, but clearly her thoughts came from some deliberation she had managed to have after the battle. "Even from an unbiased analysis catastrophic events, especially with demons involved, tend to be related to my family." A small sigh escaped her lips as she called them her family. As much as she hated the names, they were still blood.

"Make the Santori another priority. Check in on the status of Aaron Almis, and if by chance they haven't been hit as bad or at all, request their aid. I've seen their libraries, they would be the perfect ally if we have a permanent demon problem..."

After giving her thoughts and orders, she eventually caught sight of Tagon properly. It didn't take long for her to guess who the man was; what from the descriptions and stories she had heard and read. Phoenixspire kept long histories of all its ruling families and their ancestors, so Jaya was quite the expert of both sides of her family.
"And you," She started, keeping her authority voice as if she weren't even addressing a family member. "If you represent Nightblood here then we will need your report of the battle, including any numbers and casualties you can provide. I doubt these initial attacks will be the only ones, so the sooner we establish what forces we have the better."

Sebastian glanced between Dakora, Tagon and Jaya as the conversation went on after he spoke. After Jaya gave them their instructions, he nodded.

"Thank you, ma'am." He turned to the others and gestured towards the exit with a cock of his head. Natasha and Valeryie at least, followed.

After a few minutes of walking, they reached the Knights communication room in one of the lower areas of the palace. Once they reached there Sebastian nodded to Natasha.

"Natasha, do your thing." She stepped forward and began to work at the table, attempting to get into contact with Nightblood. Sebastian looked around. The Knights communication room had been the most unscathed from the attack it seemed. It conveyed a sense of normalcy that betrayed the condition of the rest of the planet outside.

He looked over to Valeryie, who was flicking some specks of dirt and debris away from her sniper rifle. She looked up at him and met his gaze. "You good?" He asked. She gave a thumbs up, before getting back to her business. He looked back towards Natasha.

"How's our status?"
Natasha said nothing for a few seconds before finally speaking. "I'm reaching out to Nightblood but it seems that no one's in the comms room. Guess Diana didn't hang around after she portalled us here. Either that or I'm doing something-" A loud beeping sound emitted from the console, and a red light flashed on the top right hand corner of the screen. Upon looking at the light, the three would find them to be letters.

"EMERGENCY: INCOMING CALL"

Natasha tapped a few keys and a holographic screen flickered into place above the table. And there, standing in front of them, but separated by lightyears, was Gelinda, and next to her stood Solaris. Behind them both was Gavin, a bit aged from the last time anyone saw him.

"Huh, who'd have known. We got Earth." Natasha said.
"Gavin.." Sebastian said.
"Soldier, where is Jaya Almis?" Gelinda demanded from the other end.
"Busy upstairs," Sebastian replied calmly. "What's the status on Earth?"
"Bad," Gavin said as he stepped forward between the two. "The whole planet got under siege. We heard reports of the army using localised weapons of mass destruction. Detonating explosives on large scales and wiping out both civilian and demonic populations alike." Gavin shook his head as he thought for a minute about the amount of death and destruction.

"It's happened all across GSU space," Sebastian said. "Every planet. The most concentrated invasions were focused on Earth and Phoenixspire." Gavin looked up. His feeling of sorrow only intensified, knowing that more innocent people had suffered than just on Earth.
"Whatever did this, whoever did this... they planned this for a long time coming." Natasha added. "Hit every single GSU planet at once? And added onto that, they gained access to the majority of our military assets. Shut them off so that we wouldn't be able to use them." The frustration and anger in her voice rose. "Bastards sucker punched us and kept on going once we were on the ground."

Solaris spoke next. "Uhm, you.. you guys have any idea who... what could have done all this?"
Sebastian opened his mouth to reply, but Gavin spoke first.
"I do." He said.

Tagon stayed quiet as they talked on, still looking Jaya over a bit before looking around the room at the injured. If his wife were still alive no doubt she would immediately offer her magic to help heal some of the folk in here. He tuned back in however and looked back to Jaya when she mentioned family, brow raising just slightly at her tone and the implication of her words. Tagon knew full well the kind of people his daughter had fallen in with and the darker notions of species and life that seemed to gravitate towards her.

If Tagon was put off or surprised by the tone of Jaya's voice when she addressed him he didn't show it, only nodding his head and waiting until everyone had left before taking a step to approach Jaya but paused at the last moment. Turning his head to Dakora he spoke quietly, "Perhaps you should go with the others, I doubt having a demon in this room is very pleasant to the rest of the war council and the injured."

Dakora simply raised a brow, even chuckled at the hulking man before her. "They can tough it up, I was told to watch out for the little ange.." Dakora glanced back over at Jaya, specifically at the dark hair, and smirked after giving a little chuckle, "little queen so I don't intend on shirking that." Tagon looked at Dakora with exasperation, mumbling to himself. "I don't know how my wife or my daughter tolerated you." After shaking his head for a moment he approached Jaya.

"Our attack wasn't specifically planet wide. Major capitals on Nightblood were attacked such as the vampire capital and the Lycan capital but smaller territories weren't attacked. What was concerning to your mother was that she didn't detect the demons entering the planet. She has dozens of magical wards and magical alarms blanketing the entire planet if even a single being were to suddenly teleport or enter the planet she would know but she didn't know about an army of demons." He explained, looking down at the queen as he held onto a serious face although there was worry in his eyes for his family.

"The GSU ships orbiting the planet couldn't provide any aid either as quickly they were sent entirely offline then they crashed into the planet. The casualties haven't been calculated yet but if I had to hazard a guess I would say in the tens of thousands minimum. If it can, it would be incredibly helpful if the GSU could up the amount of blood its currently supplying Nightblood with. It'll help the troops we have to spare heal faster." Vampires healed faster when they could feed off something and there were many many injured vampires back on the planet.

"Your half sister was heavily injured in the fight as was your mother, which is why she isn't here herself, but both are healing and expected to pull through. Thankfully your mother..." He glanced around at the rest of the people at the table. It would be dangerous to divulge Kitty's current physical and mental condition to those who weren't family. "Ended the fight quickly although it has put her back some." Clearing his throat and straightening Tagon's face grew far more serious and grave than before. "Could I possibly speak to you privately for a moment?"

At Jaya's command the officials around the table began taking notes of what Tagon was saying about the attack, recording as much details as they could to compile into an ultimate list of resources and damages. Jaya herself took mental note of what her mother might have done, raising an eyebrow at the vague details but soon understanding it might not be the best subject matter in public.

"Very well." She replied to his request of private conversation after some deliberation, wanting to ensure the war room was in good hands before they moved aside. When they did she gestured for him to follow her down one of the side corridors, taking a short route into one of the palace's libraries. This one, like most of them it seemed, had been heavily scorched by fire and ruined by charred demonic bodies.

"Well, what was it?" Jaya asked, sounding somewhat impatient. It was clear the familial ties between the two of them made no difference to how she saw or spoke to him. For all she knew this man was a stranger.

They are stared at Gavin, waiting for his explanation. And finally enough, he spoke.
"It's Mephistopheles." Gavin said, looking up at the screen.

"The demonic leader who attempted to release Legion?" Natasha replied. "I thought he disappeared."
"He did, but not completely." Gavin said. "Only from sight, but he was always here." His mind briefly flickered to his past. When he made the deal with the demon twenty years ago...

"How do you know?" Sebastian asked. "I mean, it could be anyone else. Why him?"
"Because during the invasion, I felt something... I was out heading towards a small town when it happened. As soon as I stepped into the place I felt... weak. As if someone just drugged me. And when those things came out and attacked me, I could feel myself growing weaker with each hit. I was sure that I'd hit the floor but I managed to pull through."

"And that's something Mephistopheles is capable of? Making you feel weak?" Natasha said in an inquisitive tone.
"There are very few things that can harm Ezekiel." Gavin stated. "Let alone drain his energy. When Mephistopheles captured him so many years ago, he tortured Ezekiel to the point where his body began to degrade. With each passing century he became more vulnerable to Mephistopheles's energy. And that's exactly what these creatures were carrying. It's his essence and I can feel it. I know it's him."

"If it is him, then he's been planning this for a long time. It isn't easy to send out an invasion force to multiple planets at once. Not without preparation." Natasha said.
"He wasn't alone." Gavin replied. "The Galactic System Union's ships are primarily designed and constructed by Blizzard Technologies, correct?" All three soldiers nodded.
"Blizzard do the ships, Millennium Armoury handle infantry weapons and equipment." Sebastian said.

"Blizzard was purchased by another government-funded, private company several years ago, and I first noticed their presence back when the whole supernatural prosecution thing was going on.." Gavin said. "Meteor Enterprises. The building in which we carried out our espionage mission? It was one of their's. The owner of that company, along with two of his bodyguards were demons. I could sense their demonic energies leaking off them" He said as he grit his teeth. "The GSU were somehow stupid enough to let a couple of fucking demons into their ranks."

"I know Meteor," Gelinda said. "They do government contracts, special experimental technologies."
"And since the apprehension of Blizzard, they've had their hand in the GSU's ships as well. That explains why everything just seemed to turn off. Mephistopheles and whoever the hell that other demon is, they're working together. I know it. And I'm sure as hell they're responsible for the bunkers that generated those portals in the first place."

"Fuck...." Sebastian muttered under his breath. "I can't believe this shit.."
"You and me both, mate. I knew something was going on from the beginning but... who the fuck would listen to me? Heh." He chuckled, more in the sense of "i don't believe this shit" than genuine humour.

Tagon nodded his head when Jaya agreed to speak privately and stood patiently. He felt a bit of pride swell up in him, seeing how well Jaya handled the war council. She seemed like she had somewhat of a good head on her shoulders. Once done and being motioned to follow, he took a step forward and so did Dakora. "You stay outside the door." He said with a bit of a glare that made her roll her eyes but nod her head.

Tagon followed Jaya down the halls, looking solemn as he took in the carnage of it all. When they got to the library Dakora stood outside while Tagon went in with Jaya and closed the door. For a moment he didnt acknowledge her, instead running his fingertips along some of the burn marks then looked Jaya over almost curiously. Whatever was brewing in his mind though he didnt mention as his face sobered again.

"When Temperance was heavily injured by a demon Kitty sort of..lost control. Her darker..tendencies took hold and she tapped into a level of magic I didnt know she was capable of." Tagon looked off into the distance, a far off look in his eyes. He was recalling the time Vasilla finally told him the darkness of her families blood line and how they had to be careful with their magic and especially the twins, lest darkness befall them. He was scared he was losing Kitty, while he would still have Diana, it would crush the both of them to lose Kitty.

"I know I mean nothing to you, and while I see your relationship with your mother is..strained..I hope she doesnt mean nothing to you. You're everything to her." He said softly, seemingly snapping back into focus before taking a seat in a slightly soot covered arm chair. "But I imagine you've heard as such from her many times. I would like to get to know you and have you get to know me, I wont force it on you and quite frankly now isnt the time." He waved a hand in the air with a sigh before leaning forward and looking Jaya directly in the eye with a strict and disciplined intensity that Kitty never seemed to be able to do.

"I offer a proposition though, one that will be mutually beneficial." He began unsheathing a sword from his belt, running his fingers along the blade as he looked down at it. He had been a bit miffed at Kitty for losing his blade but granted she had died that day. He had flipped at that. "I've heard my daughter talking about a sword you once had. Blightslayer. I was a blacksmith in your grandmother's village, I would make the blades and she would enchant them and sell them. I have her notes and I'm sure Kitty has a spell or two in the grimoire." He spoke smoothly before his eyes flicked back up to hers, a hint of a smile in his Caribbean blue eyes. Kitty's eyes. "I also heard your blade was destroyed. Any interest in reforging it?"

Jaya listened closely, moving around the library to inspect the damages herself. There was no surprise in her face at the carnage of the room, nor at what Tagon was telling her. Her mother had always toyed with dark powers, things that even bordered on being illegal in the eyes of the Union. Part of her had longed to outlaw all kinds of dark magic, but passing such a law through the council in times where the Union was trying hard to appear the more benevolent faction towards all supernaturals would prove too difficult.

Alas, it had been this dark power that had saved Nightblood, a solution not so different from Phoenixspire's. Her deep though on the matter was interrupted by the mention of Blightslayer, causing Jaya to look straight at Tagon for the first time during the talk.
"The pieces were lost in the Traveller's Dimension. Perhaps only Aaron Almis knows exactly where, but he says he was forced to leave it. I doubt a mortal has been there since." She pondered the possibilites. "It would be dangerous to go into the unknown on the chance to retrieve the pieces, however..."

"The sword could prove extremely useful in defeating this demonic threat. On that basis, I would be interested, but I do not want to personally wield the sword again." Her eyes averted as she sighed. "As you can see the effects wear off. I've given up on trying to appear pure. My actions speak louder than the colour of my wings."

A few moments of silence passed. And then the next person to speak was Gelinda.
"It's not fair..." She said. Everyone looked at her, taking note of her sorrowful tone. "How many times... how many times do things like this have to happen...?" She shook her head as she looked down.

"W-what do you mean?" Solaris asked, clearly concerned with her change in demeanour. She looked at him. "When do we, when does Humanity ever get a break? Why do we always have to be in danger from an outside force looking to destroy us? And why is it that innocent people always have to die in the process?" She vented. "Ordinary men women and children just trying to get on with their lives have theirs snatched away and it's just not.... it's not fair." Her voice trailed off at the end.

Gavin thought about them. The ordinary, the innocent. The group of people that suffered the most from this... unprecedented attack. How they would never have expected to have their lives snatched away so quickly.... just as he hadn't expected to lose his parents the way he did. Gelinda was right in expressing these feelings. These attacks, these threats to Humanity had been happening for over five centuries and each time, the species managed to rebuild from what was lost. But how far could they be pushed before they reached the point of no return? The point at which there was no coming back, only death and extinction?

"We protect Humanity," Sebastian said to Gelinda. "It's our duty as soldiers. We lose people, but our actions prevent more danger from affecting the innocent."

"Knights, soldiers... we all automatically take an oath upon entering service." Gelinda said, her voice turning to a growl. "That we will protect those who can not protect themselves... that we will stop evil wherever it materialises... so why are we still losing people?"

"You can't-"
"No." Gavin interrupted just as Sebastian was about to speak. "She's right. Somehow, the GSU let demons into their ranks. Somehow, even after identifying demons as our primary enemy, we have still allowed them to cause death and destruction across our territory. We've fucked up yet again. The 500 Year War should have taught us enough a long time ago, yet we still got our arses handed to us by the likes of Armageddon, Draetheus, Richard Benedict and Rha 'Mantakree. The likes of Nozdormu, Zalgo and Helix. At what point do we stop to realise that we're not doing enough?"

"Certain assets are worth risks." Tagon's mischievous glint faded and he sobered up again as he leaned back. His eyes flicked up and down Jaya curiously, "Purity is worthless. Never in my life have I encountered something so over prized." Tagon tucked his sword away and looked down at his hands, curling them into fists. If he concentrates hard enough he could still feel Vasilla's hand in his. "I died because of a belief of purity of race, so did my wife and I think it killed my little girls too." He spoke quietly but there was a twinge of anger andsorrow in his voice.

"You've built an empire on the notion of peace and equality and light. I've learned through your mother that you've had to make some heart breaking sacrifices to maintain this and that certain things get under your skin still but you have accomplished so much. Regardless of where you come from or what you are, embrace it. Build on it. Make it yours instead of theirs. If you keep looking to and thinking about the past you'll never move forward." He stood up and let out a sigh, cracking his knuckles before looking down at Jaya.

"I am willing to do anything to protect those I love, so anything you need regarding the reforging of Blightslayer I'll do. But don't do it alone, you have people that want to help you." With a nod of his head before turning he walked for the door. However as soon as he got there he paused again and turned. back, "You're a lot like your grandmother." He gave her a slight smile before slipping out of the door and falling in step with Dakora back to the main war room.

Jaya let out a small laugh at Tagon's words. An empire of peace and equality. Maybe that was why they found themselves yet again in this situation. The Union tried so hard to be the moral high ground of the galaxy that, in Jaya's opinion, it had become too weak to defend itself. Maybe that was why it was the target of these attacks again. Even though the Santori were the newer faction, they already held great knowledge and power thanks to the grand libraries. The Union only had council meetings and suits of armour.

"I'll keep it in mind." Was all Jaya said, her voice giving nothing away as Tagon left. Jaya waited for a few moments, examining the room once more before moving out back to the temporary war room. She had injured to attend to and resources to account for. They couldn't waste anymore time expecting another attack, but where it was going to be would be the hardest point to predict.

"Give me a report on the information comms have found." Jaya let one of her assistants know, before returning to her duties.

"God damn it Gavin," Sebastian snapped. "What the hell do you expect us to do? How the hell do you expect anyone, at all, to know what's coming?"
"That's not what he's saying," Natasha interjected. "The Union was built upon the values that both Humans and Supernaturals would live under the same banner, under peace and prosperity and safety. The problem is that not only has the Union failed to deliver, but as he said, this faction has also somehow allowed a demon to control the means of producing the bulk of our military power. They already had us by our throats before we even knew it."

"Yeah, and we're working to fix the issue." Sebastian replied sternly. "We track these fuckers down, and we kill them, and we destroy everything they ever built."
"Will we though? I mean, we had our chance at Mephisto way back then. And we still let him get away." Gavin retorted. "Granted, I'm not blaming you. I'm blaming us. We were there, WE failed to kill him.

What Gelinda said is right. This shit that's happening.. it's our fault. We act like we're the protectors and saviors of Humanity, of Supernaturals but it's all bullshit. Saving people doesn’t just mean eliminating the present threat and preventing death. It means maintaining that in the long run as well, which we have ALL failed to do!”

"Guys," Everyone looked at Solaris. "I get that we're pointing out all the places we messed up in the past, that may have led to all this happening but... aren't we kinda doing the same thing right now? I mean, we can go over what was and could have been for hours but... let's show ourselves that we've learnt from those mistakes right now. Let's do something about this." He looked at Gelinda. "Not for us, but for Humans and Supernaturals alike. For the innocent." This caused a shift in Gelinda's body language, as she notably appeared to relax her stance.

Gavin and Sebastian both looked at each other and for a few seconds, shared a moment of mutual realisation. "Kid's right," Natasha said, voicing both of their thoughts. "We've wasted enough time as it is. Let's get on with what needs to be done."
