Previously
A deadly virus affecting both organics and robotics swept the northern sectors of the Galaxy, sparking a war between the afflicted and the remaining factions. After nearly a year of defensive battles and co-ordinated operations, the war finally ended at the Battle of Ruin. The end of the war saw increased relations between the GSU, Imperium and Santori as they all agreed on a two year ceasefire to mend the damages caused by the crisis.

After these two years the factions signed the Santori Accords, an agreement proclaiming their united efforts to uphold Celestial law, including the protection of innocent life in case of another galactic threat. Following this meeting the Highrock Clans decided to join the Santori Protectorate, expanding their territory by almost double.

Whilst each planet has their own personal Dates and Times, most of them adhere to the Galactic Standard Calendar when communicating with eachother.

Current Events
The Reich, a returning faction of magic-haters, resurface and initiate a purge of the planet Ordriey, destroying it entirely in the process. This event has made all of the Major Factions uneasy, even though each of them has bigger concerns of their own. Not only are there issues for these powers to deal with, but more factions are rising from the ashes of the Helix War, populating the galaxy once again.

Meanwhile, the Celestial Architect Sam'anar has discovered a way to reverse large parts of the Convergence, sending back many of the planets it had brought into the galaxy. Whilst this move has saved many from unwanted threats, it has also shifted the layout of the galaxy drastically. Because of this, new star-charts have been drawn out with Hyperlanes, allowing them to show the quickest and safest routes between planets.

Jagos piloted his frigate, the Rebel Scorcher, closer to the enormous desert region of the planet that held his target. It was a drug lord who went by the nickname Gyro, but his real name was Gerrard Styles. Earlier, a security station on a different planet offered Jagos the bounty for his capture. The score if Gyro was brought in alive was 70,000 credits. If he was dead it would only earn him 42,000 credits. Jagos readily accepted, and he was given the details of the target before his departure from the station.

Jagos activated the bounty portion of his HUD in the cockpit and it displayed Gyro's profile.

Race: Human
Age: 47
Height: 6'1
Weight: 221 lbs.

Crimes: Murder, Drug Trafficking, Racketeering, Global Bodily Harm, Forgery.

Danger Level: Extremely dangerous.

Below the primary information were the scores highlighted in different colors depending on if Gyro was caught dead or alive. Green represented alive, red for dead.

Jagos removed the refresher and thought about the compound that he and his team would be entering. It would no doubt be well guarded and Gyro would be foolish not to watch his back.

He mulled over this in his mind as he prepared to enter the planet's atmosphere.

Nevroghol, or "Nev" as his crewmates called him, twisted and turned from his seated position in the gunner's seat. The double barreled turret that he manned had remained cold throughout the trip to the drug lord's planet, and it left him with a sour taste in his mouth. He was an Orc. He and his people lived for combat. Certainly didn't help his attitude that Jagos usually made him stay at the ship and guard it in case some unwanted visitors attempted to board it, which rarely happened. Sure he sometimes got into fights at bars and other social places when he was actually allowed to go anywhere off the ship, but the perpetrators were always the ones that initiated the first strike in his eyes at least.

Nevertheless, he maintained a vigilant eye for anything that might present a threat to the Rebel Scorcher. His meaty green fingers were glued to the trigger, ready to blow apart any vessel that dared launch a bloodthirsty projectile their way. Nev saw that they were about to enter the planet's atmosphere and he let out a disgruntled sigh. No red blips spawned in on his radar screen. It was only their center green blip and the tropical-colored sphere that was the planet.

He was most likely going to spend another mission being the guard of the ship. If he was told any different then it'd be a miracle.

Staffan Olander idled in his chair as he studied the various blinking lights of the medical equipment in the room. Another bounty, another journey with Jagos. Sometimes the journey involved bullets and explosions, but that's why he was the crew's medic right? He was responsible for preventing any fatalities on his team to the best of his ability. He had already proved himself invaluable to the team, so this mission simply felt like standard procedure to him.

He picked up a black ink pen off of the desk and twiddled with it in his fingers. What did Gyro have in store for the people intending to bring him to justice? Deadly traps? Men with guns? Some insane magical powers? A combination of all three?

His attention turned to the healing pod close by and he felt his mind ease up. That capsule saved the lives of the crew so many times from nasty laser wounds to severe diseases. His finger tapped the glass cylinder of the pod, confident that its assistance may be required once more.

Staffan swiped his goggles off of the desk and exited the medical room. He then made his way to the crew quarters in preparation of the landing.

Jagos navigated his ship into the planet's atmosphere. The tiny white indicator on his HUD displayed the location and distance to the target, who was currently inside of a large compound. Jagos pressed two buttons on his console and a green map layout of the structure appeared. It was peppered with small red dots which represented armed personnel. The map also had little rotating red lines which meant that the compound also had sentry guns defending it. Such expensive defenses were the benefits of being highly successful in the illicit drug trade. A clever fugitive would no doubt be weary of trouble. It was a matter of when it would arrive that caused great paranoia among those who had their names plastered on the wanted list.

The sun having moved to the other side of the planet meant that the compound's inhabitants would likely be less alert unless they were on stimulants. The darkness of the night also meant that it would be easier to avoid detection. The indicator informed the bounty hunter that he was closing in on his target.

Jagos pressed another button on his console and a weather report of the region came up. A brief moment of relief took over his body when he saw that the winds were calm and the temperature was moderate. The last thing he needed was a sandstorm to complicate the mission.

He switched his HUD to a topographical map of the region and spotted a small dip just two miles from the compound that would provide suitable cover for the Rebel Scorcher.

The ship's course changed and he was soon making his way over there.

Nev watched the billions of stars from his position as the ship entered the planet's atmosphere. He personally never cared for them, and isn't likely to change his mind anytime soon. The Orc swiveled to the front of the ship to see that they were approaching the landing zone. Jagos usually gave the briefing to whoever formed his away team, and if the bounty hunter wanted him to be a part of it then he would have called him up.

As the Rebel Scorcher descended towards land Nev noticed an array of red dots appear on the targeting scanner of the turret he manned. He pressed a button on his console which opened direct communications with Jagos and asked, "Hey Boss, you reckon we're close to the top dog and his goons?"

He awaited Jagos's response as the ship flew closer to the dip.

Staffan could feel that it was only a matter of time now before the ship landed as he entered the crew quarters. He took a nearby seat and adjusted his light jacket. Many battle tacticians would insist that the medical units wear armor at all times, but Staffan was of the mind that a medic would need to be swift on the battlefield and that armor, no matter how light, would only serve to encumber and slow down the healer. His gaze cut to the door that led to both the airlock and the cockpit.

His attention focused on the door from whence he came sliding open revealing Jean, one of the Rebel Scorcher's two engineers. She sported a hardened look and said, "Jagos hasn't made his decision yet."

"Patience dear. You and Ivan have plenty of experience out in the field. I'm sure you'll perform well like you always do if he picks you," Staffan assured her.

"I know but, this guy is a drug lord. He gets rich at the expense of others getting high and killed off of that disgusting crap," Jean said as she took the next available seat next to Staffan.

It was true that Jean acted in a proficient manner when she was out of the ship hunting bounties with him and Jagos, but where Ivan's flaw was in aiming a gun, Jean suffered in the manner of falling for even the most obvious of tricks that the enemy employed when it came to speech.

Still, inside Staffan preferred her over Ivan on away missions.

The Rebel Scorcher hovered over the dip. Jagos prepared to land his spacecraft when Nev's voice came in with his question. "Very close Nev. I'm landing the ship now," he replied as he deployed the landing gear and touched the vessel down onto the sandy surface.

Jagos wiped his brow as he powered down the ship's engines. Before he departed from the cockpit he uploaded a schematic of the compound to the PDA that was built into the wrist of his suit. It was always beneficial to have a map with him that also allowed him to track enemy movements when he was working on contracts.

He activated his communicator and said, "Crew, meet in the quarters for the briefing."

The bounty hunter then stepped through the door and into the airlock. He then passed into the crew quarters where he found Staffan and Jean there conversing with each other.

Nev continued to monitor the red dots on his scanner as the ship landed. None of them appeared to be moving toward their location, so it was likely that they had flown in undetected. That, or Gyro was now bolstering his men as someone had seen their ship by chance and had radioed ahead to send him the warning. He sat there, hoping that at least several of those glowing dots would begin to shift in their direction. No luck.

Jagos's order to meet in the crew quarters came through and Nev removed himself from the gunner's seat. He grabbed his weaponry that consisted of a machine gun, a combat axe, and a machete. The Orc navigated several corridors until he came to the crew quarters where he found everyone but Ivan there.

"What is the plan boss?" he asked bluntly without a care in the world that one person was still missing.

"Ivan's probably asleep again," Staffan thought as Nev asked his question. "There could be a gun fight happening throughout the ship and Ivan could probably sleep through it," Jean joked. Staffan couldn't help but muster a snicker at the jab. Despite his recommendation that Ivan take medication that made him more alert, the man always insisted that sleep was very important to the health of the individual and that he didn't need a few brightly colored capsules.

The door behind the group opened and Ivan entered in his armor and his shotgun by his side. "Sorry I'm late you all," he replied as he rubbed his forehead.

"We're just glad you're awake Ivan," Staffan said with a smirk. "I wasn't sleeping for your information doctor," Ivan muttered with some vitriol in his voice.

Staffan glanced away with an even wider smile.

Jagos turned his attention to Nev and replied bluntly, "I'll give it when everyone is here."

He struggled to hide a smirk when Jean cracked a joke about Ivan being a heavy sleeper, but the moment he stepped in his face became stoic. Jagos allowed both him and Staffan to bicker for a moment until he cleared his throat to grab his crew's attention.

Everyone focused their eyes on Jagos and he began, "You all know why we're here. There is a drug lord who makes his livelihood in this desert. Reports say that he is very dangerous and if scanners are to be believed he has surrounded himself with a lot of men and other security measures in that compound of his. Gerrard Styles is his name, but he is nicknamed "Gyro". Our contractors will pay based on if he's dead or alive, but you know that I prefer to bring them back alive because the reward is higher. You know the drill. Three of us head out to capture our target, two of you stay back to defend the ship. Now, any questions before we begin?"

Nev followed his boss's briefing as he explained who Gyro was. Nevertheless, he could only maintain a neutral expression as he felt that Jagos was going to assign him the duty of defending the Rebel Scorcher alongside either Jean or Ivan as he had done every other time they were out hunting bounties.

When Jagos finished his briefing Nev broke out a smile and commented, "This Gyro fella sounds like a weakling!"

"Nice to see your enthusiasm as usual Nev," said Ivan, who was cautious not to bring up the extreme possibility that the Orc may stay at the ship again.

Indeed, Gyro did sound like a nickname for someone who specialized in constructing flying machines. The target may have a secret hobby of building aircraft. Who knew?

Nev turned to Ivan and asked, "Did you enjoy your beauty sleep Ivan?"

Ivan shot Nev an incredulous look.

"I think you two need to be placed in charge of guarding the ship," Jean mumbled under her breath with an amused smile. Anyone with sharp brains could tell that she was clearly joking.

Staffan listened closely to the briefing being given by Jagos. The target was dangerous and had armed personnel as usual. Though why he wanted to live in a desert of all places was well beyond the doctor's comprehension. Nev mentioned Gerrard's nickname making him sound weak and he couldn't help but roll his eyes at the Orc's hamfisted attempt at encouragement.

Though he did crack another smile when he watched Nev take a light-hearted jab at Ivan. Man himself was at fault for sleeping in when the crew was on another bounty hunting mission. He even nearly snickered when Jean mentioned that both Ivan and Nev should guard the ship.

Staffan turned back to Jagos, waiting to see which person he would select to attend both him and the boss on the mission.

When he asked if the crew had any questions the medic spoke up, "What kind of security measures can we expect?"

Jagos quietly shook his head in annoyance at several members of his crew taking jabs at each other. They did it all the time, but now was the time to get serious. The team was preparing to capture a dangerous drug lord and he needed everyone to be on deck.

He cleared his throat to grab the attention of his crew and when Staffan asked his question Jagos responded, "The scans showed multiple hired guns and several sentry turrets."

Now that he answered the question, Jagos himself couldn't help but wonder why Gyro hadn't bothered to install a CCTV system. Perhaps he didn't want any captured footage displaying his misdeeds to be used against him if and when he was prosecuted in a court of law?

"Apart from those threats and a few locked doors that shouldn't be a problem for me to hack into, that's pretty much it as far as security measures go. Any other questions?" Jagos added as he looked at everyone, waiting for one of them to speak up.

Nev listened dismissively to Jagos's answer to Staffan and the rest of the crew. He didn't exactly have a question to ask because he felt certain that he was going to be put on guard duty once more. Ivan asked the next question, "How are we planning on making the trip there and then the return trip? We didn't bring a mode of transportation to get us across the ground quickly."

"Yeah, are we seriously heading to the compound and back to the ship on foot?" asked Jean who was scratching her head.

Nev snorted. He didn't really mind traveling on foot, but he did feel that it was a question worth answering. Deserts did get quite cold at night after all. The Orc took a seat in a nearby chair and waited for Jagos's answer.
