Owner: James Polson
Manufacturer: Alioth Industries
Development Thread: Extremely powerful and important bases require a thread to work for them. Put N/A if not needed.
Materials: Titanium, Kaldyrium, stone.
Size: ~12 km diameter
Location: 20,000 light years, 30 degrees (point of intersection between the Inner Worlds, Core Worlds, and the Union Sector)
Grade the aspects of the base below between 1-10. 1 being severely lacking in that aspect, 10 being specialized. Keep things balanced.
The base is built into the asteroid, making it extremely difficult to assault and incredibly easy to defend.
Formerly a mining operation the asteroid was reclaimed by James Polson and refurbished by Alioth Industries. A notable weakness of the base is its incapability of returning fire from sides where there are not external constructs--this weakness can be easily rectified by placing firing points across the asteroid surface. Even with this weakness it is next to impossible to assault the asteroid without sending a boarding party into an external entrance.
Most day-to-day functions of the station are fully automated and supplemented by an AI system. As the base has room to expand the crew will grow, also accounting for facilities which may be installed at the base.

"Best run we've had in a long time." James said as the Elysium came out of subspace. "Easiest, sure. Should've made more money, but that just says how poor we've been recently." Alex said, yawning. "You make more money running stuff illegally, but what we got ain't nothin' to turn your nose up at." Alex shrugged and looked out the window of the bridge.
"What the hell we doin' back here?" he asked, gazing at the shoddy hangar bay, dimly lit and built into the side of a small asteroid. "We need a base of operation--and a crew, but that bit comes later." James explained, "You're spending all our money, again, aren't you?" Sarah asked with a sigh. "Probably gonna get stabbed in the back by whoever he hires, too." Yvonne added.
James rolled his eyes, "Look, I'm gonna give ol' Carbine a call. Get him in here fix the place up." he said, "And why d'you think he'll be willing?" Alex asked, "Cause I'm givin' fair price for what's gettin' done, and we're not technically outside of his sector." James said, spreading his arms out as though he'd just explained everything. "Technically we're not in any sector." Alex shot back. "Sitting right on the point where the Inner Worlds, Core Worlds, and Union Sector meet up." Yvonne said, "Just asking to get shot." Sarah said.
"Ok, all of you. Shut up. This isn't a democracy. We're setting up shop and we're calling in Carbine to do it. End of story." the others gave a collective sigh and James turned back to the controls, taking them in for a landing as he shook his head.

“Great.” James said, looking down into the crate containing a large chunk of rock, “Now what the hell is it?” he asked. Alex opened his mouth, “Uh… they didn’t have a name for it, just said they never saw nothin’ like it.” he said, “But that’s not what matters.” Sarah put in quickly as James rolled his eyes, “They said it’s strong. Real strong.” she said, “How wonderful. Why do I care?” he said, as the gears inside his head began turning.
“Cause we can sell it, that’s why!” Yvonne said, gesturing emphatically. James snapped his fingers, “That stuck up freak… the guy in the Union Sector… name, name, anyone remember the damned name?” he asked. “Uh, you mean Michael Draven?” Alex asked, scowling, “Yeah, that’s the one!” James said, looking up. “He’s your brother-in-law.” Alex said, exasperated, “Yeah, don’t remind me.” James waved off another response, “His relation to me isn’t the point. Well, it is, but it’s not what matters.” he said.
“He got involved in some hair-brained plan to start a company back on Chiron. Now, since I’m his favorite brother he might just do me a favor.” James said, straightening his coat, “Favorite brother? I thought he tried to kill Michael.” Sarah muttered to Yvonne, “He did. But he’s also Michael’s only brother.” James glowered at them and they stopped whispering, “As I was sayin’ I figure he’ll do me a favor.” James said.
“Now, for whatever reason I can’t begin to fathom, their littly organization hasn’t collapsed yet. They’ve actually done quite well for themselves so far.” James said, “How d’you know that?” Alex asked, “I have my sources.” James replied smugly, “He calls his sister on a regular basis.” Sarah said mockingly, “Shut up.”
“I say we take the rock here and see what they’ll give us for it.” James said, “Oh, brilliant idea. One problem.” Alex said, “What’s that?” James asked obliviously. “We don’t have a ship.” Alex said, annoyed. “Sure we do, Ol’ Pinhead up there.” he said, pointing upwards. “Ah, and does he know he’s become our personal taxi?” Yvonne asked, “Well… not yet.” James said, “But he most certainly does owe me a favor. We collect. He takes us and the rock to Chiron, and we call up Michael, arrange a nice little meeting.”
“Sure, yeah, whatever. Just try not to get us shot at again.” Alex said, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Good man.” James said, clapping Alex on the back as he turned on his heel and made for the ramp up.

Slightly tanned skin, brown hair, green eyes. Height 5’7”. Simple tattered clothing, brown trench coat, brown wide-brimmed hat, boots.
Lucky. Things tend to work out for James--sure he gets shot at a lot, but the point is they don’t hit
Sharp eyes. Running for your life and having to constantly watch your back tends to give you a bit of a thing for catching stuff. James doesn’t miss the little details, and he most assuredly hasn’t stayed alive this long by not
being able to read people.
Steady hand. Well, no one’s perfect, when his eyes fail him his aim won’t. Hopefully.
Fast. Fast on the draw, fast on the shot, fast on the kill. And if that doesn’t work out he can certainly haul ass.Weaknesses
Rough around the edges. He’s got an accent and he’s got it good, but that’s not the worst card in the deck--when you see his clothes. Just don’t go inviting him to any dinner parties--not that he’d show up if you did.
Crew. He’ll tell you he likes to work alone, he’ll tell you he’s not responsible for whatever hole you dig yourself, and he’ll throw curses at you if he even thinks you’re calling him soft. But when it comes to his crew he takes care of ‘em. Cross his crew, cross him. Naturally he sees this as his duty--though he’d call it sentimentality--and his crew certainly isn’t complaining, but let’s just say flying your ship into the viewscreen of a kidnapper or double-crosser isn’t the way to keep costs down.
Two pistols. One a powerful revolver. One an equally powerful plasma weapon. Both look identical in almost every way, except for a small marking. James switched them out based on what he knows about the situation he’s walking into. If he doesn’t know he carries both or flips a coin and hopes for the best.Defiance-class Gunship - ElysiumPowers
Obscenely lucky and harder to kill than any damned cockroach.History
