Previously
A deadly virus affecting both organics and robotics swept the northern sectors of the Galaxy, sparking a war between the afflicted and the remaining factions. After nearly a year of defensive battles and co-ordinated operations, the war finally ended at the Battle of Ruin. The end of the war saw increased relations between the GSU, Imperium and Santori as they all agreed on a two year ceasefire to mend the damages caused by the crisis.

After these two years the factions signed the Santori Accords, an agreement proclaiming their united efforts to uphold Celestial law, including the protection of innocent life in case of another galactic threat. Following this meeting the Highrock Clans decided to join the Santori Protectorate, expanding their territory by almost double.

Galactic Date
Whilst each planet has their own personal Dates and Times, most of them adhere to the Galactic Standard Calendar when communicating with eachother.

Current Events
The Reich, a returning faction of magic-haters, resurface and initiate a purge of the planet Ordriey, destroying it entirely in the process. This event has made all of the Major Factions uneasy, even though each of them has bigger concerns of their own. Not only are there issues for these powers to deal with, but more factions are rising from the ashes of the Helix War, populating the galaxy once again.

Meanwhile, the Celestial Architect Sam'anar has discovered a way to reverse large parts of the Convergence, sending back many of the planets it had brought into the galaxy. Whilst this move has saved many from unwanted threats, it has also shifted the layout of the galaxy drastically. Because of this, new star-charts have been drawn out with Hyperlanes, allowing them to show the quickest and safest routes between planets.

Eight Weeks before the Attack on Xu’La

Within uncharted space, not far from the fringes of Imperial-owned lands, stood a station, diminutive and destitute enough to avoid the attention of the Serpentum. But looming around it, in their black-shinned plating, was the Fleet of Retribution, the brainchild of the remaining admirals and engineers loyal to the Old Reich regime, and steadfast to the return of it. Within the station itself, one of the Grand Inquisitors and his most trustworthy retinue began to lay out the plans for a machine that would defy the powers that sought to destroy the Reich once more.

“I am confused, my liege,” Lord Inquisitor questioned, tapping his finger down upon a part of the partial blueprint, “How again would the sword work? It’s a mech unit, correct? Wouldn’t a melee weapon be obsolete against a force like the GSU?”

You would be correct, Hallis,” the Grand Inquisitor, “A weapon such as the one I propose would be poor against the likes of the Systems Union. However, I do not plan to use it against them. No, this weapon is to be used against the Imperium and the Santori. Where the GSU’s Infantry is too heavyweight to possibly contend with, the Serpentum’s focus upon it will make them fodder for its blade. And as for the Santori... well, need I say more? A simple slice to the gut will halt their witchery.

Grenwind let out a hum, one that indicated he was slowly concocting an idea inside the mechanical support that had become his body. After a short silence, he stated, “Even if it’s an infantry-focused machine, its size would mean it’d need some sort of anti-vehicle weaponry. I propose we add missile pods onto its shoulders, and for further anti-infantry needs, our finest gattling cannons upon its wrists.”

“What about a rail cannon?” Snipped the Scientist, the new Director of Scientific Advancements, the replacement to Krieg’s long time friend, Alden Wells. The Grand Inquisitor has not yet even learned his name. “If it is to have a chance against tanks, missiles and the like, it must have one.”

Grenwind nodded, “Aye, you make a good point. One arm dedicated to either cannon seems like the best option.” To this, the Scientist nodded, “And perhaps some more... advanced, additions may be added to the models by my research and development sectors?”

Krieg contemplated the possible factors into allowing their meddling into his planned machine, but then began to remember the leeway he allowed Alden, and how it lead to Slag, the weaponsfire that allowed the Reich to stand out amongst the factions of the Northern Reaches.

It’s agreed then,” the Grand Inquisitor, finished with is selection, stood up, “You will provide me a mechanical frame capable of standing up to the Imperium, and you shall stay as Director, Mister...?

“Rell,” the Scientist responded, “Gregory Rell. And this unit... it will be all you desire... and plenty more.” And with that, Director Rell watched as the Grand Inquisitor, General, and High Lord Inquisitor depart with the fleet, disappearing into the void to allow him to begin his work.

Age: 38
Faction: Inquisitorial Reich
Alignment: Neutral Evil

-------------------

What do they excel in? (Recommended minimum 2)
-Wordsmith
-Gunplay Expert
Weaknesses
-Only human/has no cybernetic enhancements, so is weaker than most
-Quick to anger

-------------------

Equipment
-Two heavy slag revolvers

Powers
A silver tongued devil, Hallis has no magical powers, as a Reichsman, but is capable of extreme persuasions. This is the byproduct of working with the Grand Inquisitor Krieg in his isolation.

History
Born on Guerre, Hallis was quick to the front lines, holding off the demonic hordes of the Guerran plains. It would be like this for a long time, until the Grand Inquisitors Krieg and Mordeci united Guerre and formed the Inquisitorial Reich. Upon the final siege of the Demonic rift, Hallis found himself in the honors of Krieg after saving him from a demon spearman. From there on, he rose in the Reich's ranks to Lord Inquisitor. Hallis was extremely influential in the peace talks between the Reich and the spiders of Thenna.

When the Helix invasions struck Guerre, the Grand Inquisitor Krieg and his personal retinue of forces, including Hallis, evacuated for a secret facility on Catugus, where they fought off stagglers of the Viral forces, before waiting the long five years before Mordeci would find them. Now, Hallis is back to his position as Lord Inquisitor, leading his own personal infantry platoon and his own Stingray-class Corvette, the IRS Starling. His current whereabouts are unknown, and his shadiness has brought the ire of Mordeci, but Krieg still believes him to be a crucial piece of the Reich, like Grenwind.

The fleet burst into the cold vacuum of space, their black hulls making them invisible as they slid through the void. Grand Inquisitor Mordeci stood at the bridge of the fleet’s flagship, the ISS Phantom. Aboard the Dagger Class Frigate, Mordeci and his retinue awaited word from one of the fleet’s corvettes, the ISS Anubis, and in extension, his partner-in-leadership, Krieg. He had gone off to enact a special assignment, and had ordered Mordeci to remove the rest of the fleet from Imperial space after the destruction of the shipyards and academy of Xu’la. The region of space Krieg had chosen for the Fleet of Retribution, as Mordeci had recently christened it, was uncharted by Reich forces and thought to be uncharted by the Imperium as well.

While he knew that Krieg’s task was to be long and arduous, Mordeci soon grew impatient for the Grand Inquisitor. The Reich was ready to show itself once more, and we now wait? The Witchhunter silently berated himself for having such a restless mind. While he was a great fighter and leader of his fleet, Krieg was the strategist of the two, the one who had mainly planned out the expansion of the Old Reich, and had planned for the continuation of the Reich inside his bunker in Catugus. He needed to respect that while also keeping in mind that he had as much rein in the Reich as Krieg, as he was head of the Witchhunters, and the acting authority of the fleet which he currently stood at the helm of.

“Admiral Flannagan,” Mordeci began, “Give me a status update.”

The Admiral, seen as many as the right hand of Mordeci, replied in short suite, “All ships, save for the Anubis, are nominal, sir. Though, there is something that may be alarming.” He continued, “An unknown signal is being broadcast from a nearby system. We are unsure if it is Imperial, Immortal, GSU, or an unknown party.”

Mordeci took this in with great contemplation. “Bring us closer,” he finally decided, “Keep is out of sensory range, but close enough to determine the origin, and allegiance, of the signal.” While he may have been disobeying Krieg’s exact orders, the fleet would still remain generally close to the designated rendezvous point, and could possibly lend further damage to the Imperium, or even weaken the Immortals with a preliminary assault. In any case, Grand Inquisitor Mordeci saw fit that this was the best course of action, and was not about to simply cow-tow to Krieg entirely.

Faction name:

The Inquisitorial Reich

Other names if any:

The Reich {colloquially}
The Inquisition {colloquially}

Founding date:

Approximately eight years ago

Form of government:

Dual-led Dictatorship

Leader[s]:

Grand Inquisitor Krieg

Goals:

To rebuild the Reich from what the Imperials have taken
To bring order to the Galaxy by removing magic from it
To keep magic from the hands of the people through its destruction

Species:

Human (Founding race)
(Insert more here as time goes on)

Moral stance: {What kind of alignments does the faction take}

The Reich is takes a militaristic standpoint on its actions, seeing its goals as righteous and fully correct, even when morally reprehensible to the worst degree. While they get a terrible rep for the destruction of magic-using civilians, the characters of the Reich do not have to be vile and terrible people.

Diplomacy:

The Reich, while seemingly aggressive to all, can actually be very generous and rewarding with their diplomatic relations. In some cases, technological exchanges and even research assistance can be given to other groups by the Reich, or intensive trade agreements to egregious amounts of resources in exchange for weaponry and other technologies.

Capital world/system:

Guerre

Origins/history:

The Reich was founded eight years ago, on the war world of Guerre, by the two Grand Inquisitors, Krieg and Mordeci. The two united the divided planet, and went on to build a strong, reliable war machine using the planet’s war-based economy.

Using the Guerran people’s hate for magic, the Reich took hold of a plethora of worlds during its first iteration, including the desert world of Sansisk, the Ocean world of Panlin, and even the Infested Jungle world of Thenna. They allied themselves with a majority of the northern powers, including the Serpentum Imperium and the enigmatic Nypherian Empire, creating tension between them and their magic-using neighbors, the Immortals.

However, this tension would collapse in the light of the Helix incursion. Unprepared for such a foe, the Reich, even in its most daring efforts, fell Planet by planet to the machines, its leadership scattered across their old territories and beyond.

In more recent days, the remnants of the Reich have been stirred into action after the destruction of Ordrieyliensis by the old Grand Inquisitor Mordeci. After the discovery of Grand Inquisitor Krieg upon a tundra world, the remnants of the Reich are reuniting into an unseen force, ready to return their Inquisition from the ashes, like a Phoenix of legend.

New Serpentum. The brightest bastion of hope in the northern regions, it stands as the Imperium's most gilded, most regal realm. A planet of undefinable beauty. It was a shame, the Grand Inquisitor thought, as his vessel rushed through warpspace, that it would have to be tarnished before true purity could come. The sins of the Serpentum, the atrocities committed upon the peoples of the once noble and glorious Reich... they will be atoned then and there, through the spilled blood of those who oversaw the madness.

A single Seclusion Class Corvette, its hull black and markless, hidden from sensor arrays of all sorts, halted hastily from its faster-than-light approach moments before. It glazed through the inky blackness around it, descending from the heavens towards the Varanus' capital planet. Inside, two Intervention Class transport vessels, as well as three Hawk-class Fighters, prepared for a quick liftoff. The hangar was alight with activity, with groups of Reich infantrymen hurrying themselves into the transports, hastily arming themselves with slag weaponry and small arms.

A single Guerran Knight, the prestigious (though sometimes incompetent) General Grenwind, marched along the floor of the ship's compact hangar. Through his mech's visor, he made sure each soldier had prepared themselves as they should, and relayed the confirmation of completion of troop transportation to Grand Inquisitor Krieg, the only person he took orders from.

"Troops are ready, sir," Grenwind grunted, "Are we sure this is a good idea? Without the rest of the fleet-"

"It will seem like the fleet is not ours," Krieg interrupted, sliding his cutlass into its hold, "Besides, if the plan went accordingly, military forces of the Serpentum should be distributed elsewhere. They will be caught off guard by this, Grenwind, I assure you. And when the last blow is laid, and the Viscount falls, you will be glad the fleet is not with us to burden our escape."

"Guess you're right, sir."

"Of course I am, Grenwind. I may not be an expert at naval warfare like Mordeci, but I still shall make myself adept at assuring we do not lose. Order the pilot to steer the corvette closer. Our fighters cannot make an accurate run if they are this far away."

And the General did so, as the Seclusion Corvette, the IRS Anubis glided closer to the Imperial Palace, in all of its enormity, making precise, pinpoint thruster boosts to keep it stable as it approached.

"The merit of the Imperium's current state is to be tested today, my loyal Reichsmen," Grand Inquisitor Krieg declared, "And you all shall be the proctor that tests it! You will descend upon the foe! Set them alight with slag and fire! We will burn their palace! And when their skink-leader, their Viscount, crawls from the ruins, we will strike him down like the cold-blooded monster he is. For we are Reichsmen! And we will not allow ourselves to be walked upon by Imperial boots!"
