Gavin sat there on the side of his bed. For the previous few minutes, he remained fixed in that position, staring down at the small photograph that he held in his hand.
It was of both him and Nancy - his late childhood friend from when they both went out to see that one movie she was interested in. At the time, Gavin couldn't really give half of a shit but he went with her just because... well, it was her. The only friend he had ever known in his life who had suddenly, reappeared in his life, coincidentally after so many years.
Gavin briefly thought back to his earlier days. Loving parents, a stable childhood. And then that all went to trash when his parents suddenly died. He was never the same after that, constantly getting into fights, eventually being sent to boarding school and barely graduating with passing grades. His life had gone downhill relatively early, he'd been to jail and employment was a struggle. He only managed to secure a job as a workshop mechanic and as a part-time, illegal underground cage fighter. Not the best of days.
And then one day, she just happened to visit his place of work, her car in need of repairs. And he recognised her, and she recognised him. And then his world changed again. He once again had a friend. Gavin continued to stare at the image. It was a selfie taken of her of both of them. He was reluctant about it and that showed on his face, but he let it happen anyway. It was her after all, and he couldn't say no. He smirked as he remembered that particular conversation.
And now... just like everyone else in his life, she was gone. Sure, after discovering his powers and possession at the hands of a demonic entity he had made a lot of friends but... where were they now? Aaron was dead, Kitty died and came back, but now she had her own kingdom to rule. Sebastian led what remained of Fireteam Aqua across GSU territory and Gavin... he just stayed on Earth. Barely getting by once again. Sometimes he pondered deeply, the point of it all.
Overall, he didn't have a good life. He had no one, just this... thing inside him. This entity that thirsted for blood. The blood of the guilty. Every evening he'd force himself to take to the streets to hunt for criminals to sate this creature's thirst on, lest it take control of him and do much worse. It was a living hell but Gavin had gained better control over the creature over the years. Still... it was a curse nonetheless.

It was an early morning on the planet Nightblood. The residents, both Lycan and Vampire were just beginning to awaken, readying themselves to go about the work and activities that they were accustomed to in their lives.
Within the castle that served as home to the Queens of the Vampire kingdom, Kitty Youngblood and Dan were in the middle of a sparring routine - something the couple had began to indulge in every now and then, almost as a form of entertainment.
While they matched each other blow-for-blow, a bright flash emanated from an orb of light that had materialised just a few meters next to them. The orb grew in size until it flattened and became a large disc, eventually forming itself into a portal. Nothing came out of it, and neither were they invited to enter. Instead, the portal appeared to slide towards them at an unprecedented speed, too fast for any of the two to react or outpace.
A second later, Kitty and Dan found themselves in a strange environment. They appeared to be standing on nothing, yet felt a solid surface underneath them. They were completed encapsulated in a sphere of blue energy, pulsing and flashing in a brilliant and spectacular manner in different areas. The energy appeared to be as distant from them as one would percieve the sky to be on any normal planet. It was clear however that they were on a different plane of existence.
Eventually, the two would notice a familiar figure standing several meters in front of them. Albeit slightly aged, the man standing across from them was undoubtedly Gavin.

Name: Gavin Reeve / The Ghost Rider
Species: Meta-Human (Possessed by the cosmic entity; Zarathos)
Faction: Mostly Independent. Occasionally allied with UNSC.
Alignment: Chaotic Good.
Well trained in the martial arts Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu.
Some experience in IT systems.
Extremely Observant of surroundings and other people.
In his normal human form, Gavin is just as susceptible to harm as any other human is. However due to his Ghost Rider counterpart within him, his durability far surpasses that of normal humans. While Gavin can be knocked out and injured just as easily as a normal human can, he can't be killed off as easily due to the cosmic entity; Zarathos, within him.
Gavin can sometimes lose control over his Ghost Rider persona and occasionally goes mad and berserk with power. This also hinders his judgement of the battlefield situation which can leave him vulnerable to exploitation.
Lastly, despite his Ghost Rider form's virtual immunity to any mortal attacks, Gavin can still be knocked out if a powerful enough strike was delivered onto him. Furthermore, the only things he CAN be harmed by in his Ghost Rider form are strong magic attacks or red cosmic energy.
As the Ghost Rider
Immense superhuman strength, stamina, agility, reflexes, endurance and durability
Invulnerability to fire, heat, lava and flames
Resurrection (At full power potential)
Ability to project regular/ethereal flame
Travel between interdimensional realms (at full potential) and along any surface
From birth, Gavin led a relatively simple and easy life for a toddler. He had kind loving parents, lived in a comfortable house and life seemed to be devoid of all problems.
One day, at the age of seven, Gavin was walking on his way to school with his father. After handing him over to his teacher, who was waiting in the school grounds for with the rest of his class, Gavin turned to wave his father goodbye a final time. What he saw next would stick with him for the rest of his life: as his father returned the gesture and left the school grounds, a car veered off the road at a high speed and hit him with enough force to kill him on impact. Gavin could only watch in shock as his father’s lifeless corpse splayed out across the pavement, surrounded by a growing pool of blood.
An hour later his mother was with him, both of them upset, especially Gavin who had just witnessed something so violent for the first time in his life. The police and ambulance were on the scene and it was later reported that the truck driver had actually a toxin running through his blood, indicating that he died prior to the crash. The real perpetrator was never captured.
In the ensuing days and months, Gavin’s life went downhill. Not only had the image of his father being run down by the car stuck branded itself into his memories forever, which caused a decline in his academic performance, but he had to watch his mother slowly fall apart as well. The grieving widow could not handle the loss of her husband and began to drink to overcome the emotional burden of having to come to terms with such the reality. Gavin began to experience neglect at the hands of his mother and months later, at the age of 8 his mother had also passed away from liver failure. With no extended family member that anyone knew of, Gavin was now an orphan.
Over the course of his childhood and later his teen years, Gavin grew up to be a rebellious individual. The past traumas that he had endured caused him to become very violent, and he was quickly kicked out of his school. He was later abandoned by his foster parents at a boarding school. Gavin excelled in one thing only: instigating violence. Leaving the school with virtually no qualifications save for a few passing grades, Gavin began to engage in criminal activity, which eventually landed him in jail for two years. After his release, he had nowhere to go and became homeless. This occupation landed him in some more trouble, where he’d often spend money donated to him by passers-by on alcohol in bars. This subsequently lead to bar fights and him getting kicked out very often in a drunken state.
At one point, at the age of 19, Gavin managed to get himself into trouble with the wrong person and before he knew it, he was up against a gang of eight people. He fought well for a young man who had barely eaten the entire day, managing to inflict multiple fracture wounds on each member as they tried to attack him. Eventually, the remaining three gang members wore him down with continuous attacks and overwhelmed him. That is when a man passing by took out his gun and told the gang members to piss off, an instruction with which they obliged happily. Having just witnessed Gavin’s ability to defend himself, he offered Gavin a career in which he could use those skills for monetary gain, with some training and refinement. Gavin agreed and thus began his career as an underground cage fighter.
Under the the guidance of his mentor whom he moved in with, Gavin became well-trained in kickboxing and jiu-jitsu, but also took it upon himself to learn some aspects of krav maga in his personal time. When his mentor deemed he was ready, Gavin participated in his first illegal cage-fight and barely won against the equally skilled fighter. Gavin continued to train and refine his skills making his way through different opponents - each tougher than the last. Every time he lost, he focused eliminating all of his weaknesses so that he could come back stronger. And he was successful in doing so, eventually becoming extremely popular with most of frequent audience members. A lot of bets were placed in favour of him and Gavin was making a very stable income. This popularity did not come without jealousy however, as some people that he had defeated as well as their associates felt that he was becoming too popular. After surviving multiple attempts on his life, as well as finding his mentor murdered one day, Gavin quit cage fighting after a three-year career and fled to a town outside the city.
Having enough winnings to afford him a one-story house, Gavin established a living there and managed to secure a job as a car mechanic. It was here that his life took another turn when he ran into his only childhood friend: Nancy. The two grew attached over the course of a few weeks, visiting and meeting each other often. One night, the cosmic entity Mephistopheles appeared to him in the form of an old man and used its powers to awaken something within him. It was at this point where he went through his first transformation. His skin painfully burnt off his body and his entire body was wrapped in flame, leaving nothing standing but a living skeleton enveloped in raging fire. Gavin had transformed into a terrifying spirit of vengeance: the Ghost Rider. By night, he was Mephistopheles’ bounty hunter as a monster, while by day he struggled to maintain his normal life and his growing relationship with Nancy.
Mephistopheles forced Gavin to hunt down select targets: Demons disguised as Humans and in return, Mephistopheles allowed the entity inside him to satiate its hunger for souls by feasting on the souls of the guilty. Eventually through sheer willpower alone, Gavin broke free of Mephistopheles control and fought back, uncovering a diabolical plan in the process: Mephistopheles was actually using Gavin as a means through which he collected the evil souls and added them to a growing army of undead troops that he kept hidden in an alternate realm. The undead army began to swarm through the portal and the town was put under siege. The arrival of the Human army helped contain the invasion while Gavin traveled to the heart of it: the portal through which they were gaining access to Earth. After a lengthly battle against the undead and Mephistopheles’ Demonic avatar, Gavin closed the portal for good and the invasion was thwarted. However to his horror, the one of the many lives lost during the attack was Nancy. This caused him to fall into a deep state of depression.
Gavin tried his best to move on with his life, working hard to get over his depression. He worked extra hours at his job to take his mind off his grief and when he was alone, he drank his sorrows away and passed out often. Occasionally, the entity within him would hunger for more souls and against his wishes, the Ghost Rider would emerge on some nights and go out, seeking to punish the guilty for their sins.
Almost a year had gone by before he ran into a team of heroes: the vampire-human hybrid Kittiana Calypso Youngblood who he would eventually come to view as an older sister, boyfriend Dan, and many other people over the course of their adventures together, including Aaron-157. Gavin took part in many battles on behalf of Humanity in alliance with the Human military from fighting against Armageddon to prevent the annihilation of Earth, to disrupting the schemes of Richard Benedict and the vampire Elder Draetheus, and putting an end to the war between Lycans and Vampires in another dimension. The Battle of Haven was another turning point for Gavin where he stood with his friends and the United Nations Space Command against an alien army. The end of this battle saw the deaths of Kittiana, Aaron and many others he had grown close to.
Five years later, Gavin worked with the super soldier Sebastian and his Fireteam to honour Kittiana's final wish which was to locate her long-lost sister; Diana. All the while, a greater threat lurked on the horizon as the Celestial Nozdormu, the Starforger, rebelled against his kind and triggered the Convergence event. He proceeded to join Sebastian, a revived Kitty, a galactic bounty hunter known to them as the Freelancer, and the Almis siblings to fight back and eventually defeat the Starforger before returning home to Earth.
Not long after however, a different battle had started on Earth. Political tensions arose on the status of Supernaturals living among the Humans, with many leaders supporting the notion that all Supernaturals should be put under high-level surveillance constantly. This was in light of all the Supernatural-related threats Humanity had to face for centuries such as the Demonic invasion, the threat of Armageddon, the vampire invasion instigated by Draetheus and the more recent Convergence event. A series of terrorist attacks, allegedly by Supernaturals, took place that worsened the situation. A terrorist plot was uncovered that lead the investigation to the Knight's Initiative Academy. An order was sent out for the Academy to be shut down and all the students detained. Gavin however took part in rescuing the students and transferring them somewhere off the grid. It was then declared that due to the rise in attacks, all Supernaturals were to be detained across Human-occupied space, where they will be transferred to detention stations in space to determine which of them were terrorists or not.
Having already discovered hints of ONI's plan to capture and detain all supernaturals years earlier, Gavin deduced that they were behind the whole thing. He then joined with Diana, Mizol, Silas, Solaris and Gelinda to infiltrate an ONI facility and retrieve information relating to the attacks, discovering in the process that they had indeed staged the attacks and framed it on individual Supernaturals who they had captured in secret and controlled through the use of chips implanted in their brains. Sebastian soon arrived with his team and extracted the group on a stolen dropship. Eventually the evidence was revealed in a court-case and Supernaturals were released after Gavin handed the information over to Admiral Yusuf. The Human government proceeded to decommission their intelligence agency, arrested the individuals responsible and built a new agency in its place with stricter moderation.
